1. Certain derivatives of p-(l,5-dimethylhexyl) benzoic acid show high juvenile hormone activity in topical tests performed on larvae of Pyrrhocoris and Neodysdercus (Hemiptera, Pyrrhocoridae). Some of the newly synthesized compounds are about 100-fold more active than the previously known agents, juvabione and dehydrojuvabione. All these materials are active on insects of the family Pyrrhocoridae and are inactive when tested on other hemipterans or on pupae of Coleoptera and Lepidoptera.

2. It is suggested that these materials may be used to control bugs of the genera Dysdercus and Neodysdercus, both of which are notorious pests of the cotton plant.
