Daily rhythms of plasma cortisol were found in male and female Fundulus grandis examined in a brackish lake in June and August. The rhythm differed in the two sexes. The rhythm of the males was bimodal; the peaks occurred at one hour and at nine hours after sunrise. The rhythm of the females was unimodal with high concentrations late in the day and at night until one hour after sunrise.
