1. Some normal Parechinus eggs become crenate during the streak stage. When centrifuged at this stage, the cells with fertilization membranes become folded and those without fertilization membranes become crinkled near the centrifugal pole.
2. When centrifuged in the 2-cell stage, the two blastomeres are separated owing to the destruction of the ectoplasmic layer. They may later be drawn together by fine strands, forming a single blastula; or they may remain separate forming twin blastulæ.
