We publish six times a year, in February, April, June, August, October, and December.
Circulation
The online version, Biological Bulletin Online, averages 500,000 hits per month.
All content, back to 1897, is free online after one year.
Banner ads with a hyperlink to your web page are available in a new, larger size. The ad will appear on every page of the site, including the home page, search pages, and article pages.
Rates: $1000 per quarter - $3500 per year
Specifications:
- Banners may be sent on PC formatted disks or as an email attachment to ad administrator
- Screen size: 468 pixels wide x 60 pixels high
- File format: Interlaced, nontransparent, jpg or gif
- File size: 20k maximum (ideally, less than 10k, for quicker loading)
- Bit depth: 5-bit color maximum
- Alternative text: A very short (less than 5 words) description of the ad for people who have image loading turned off or are using a browser that does not display images.
- Include the URL to which the banner should be linked
Deadlines:
The 20th of the month preceding the date of the issue (i.e., January 20 for the February issue; March 20 for the April issue, etc.)

Specifications::
- Digital files preferred: tiff, eps, pdf, and pdf/X-la
- Proof required; ad must be complete and at 100% size
- Document size should include necessary bleeds: minimum bleed allowance is 1/8” each side
- All fonts and graphics must be embedded
- Resolution minimum: 300 dpi for full color or grayscale; 1200 dpi for bitmap
- Color ads must be in CMYK mode
